November 2019

The weather this Oct was unusually warm here in Key West.  This has been giving us awesome opportunities to catch fish we normally don’t target this time of year.  The Tarpon fishing remained strong and when the conditions were right we have been getting our shots at Permit.  This will change as we start getting Cold Fronts and should spark up the winter fishing.  With a live well full of Pilchards we have a blast in the channels catching Jack, snappers, Cudas, etc.  Also the Basins will kick off with the Sea Trout.  Both our Pathfinders offer great winter fishing in comfort.  Give Capt John a call 305.587.7669 or drop me an email and I’ll tell you all about the current fishing conditions.

Tarpon Season 2018…..So Far

Tarpon Season has come off to a slower start than we all expected.  May, thus far, has been all about the weather.  We’ve had lots of rain and heavy winds.  But, there are fish out there when we can go.  Late May and June are looking good.  This is really the time of year that the weather should cooperate, light winds and clear skies, and that is what Tarpon like.  They are very fickle fish and like to have everything just right, sorta like the fisherman does too.

So I am looking forward to some Great Tarpon fishing over the next couple months.  Below are a few fish we’ve caught this past week here aboard the ShadowCaster.  Give Capt John a call @ 305.587.7669 or drop me an email here.

New Pathfinder 22FT

Purchased in November 2017 is the Pathfinder 22ft TRS. This boat is going to allow us to comfortably take 1-4 anglers in great comfort. The Pathfinder handles the chop we have here in the winter beautifully and has plenty of seating and one of the most important features……SHADE. The style of fishing isn’t going to change. We are still targeting all the same species that live in the BackCountry water of Key West.

We are also running trips on the Maverick MasterAngler 17, like we have always done, so now Anglers get their choice of boat. Below are some pics of both boat and some of the fish we have been catching this November.

Late Summer 2017

Summer has been great fishing. The winds have been light and the sun shining. The last couple of days Eric Mills (longtime customer and friend) fished with us at ShadowCaster Charters and we had a great couple days in the Marquesas Keys. Small resident Tarpon were on the menu and we jumped a bunch on topwater.

With the “slow tourist” time upon us mean very light boat traffic in the backcountry and some great fishing!!!
